The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant

The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.  It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and among the 10 largest in the world. It is located in southeastern Ukraine, near the city of Enerhodar. It has six reactors, each with a capacity of 950 MW, and a total output of 5,700 MW. The plant was built between 1984 and 1995 and was operated by Energoatom, the state-owned company that runs all of Ukraine's nuclear power plants. The plant provided about 22% of Ukraine's electricity and was considered a strategic asset for the country. However, in February 2022, the plant was seized by Russian troops as part of their invasion and occupation of eastern Ukraine. Since then, the plant has been under Russian control and has been a source of tension and conflict between the two countries. Ukraine has accused Russia of planning to sabotage or attack the plant, which could cause a nuclear disaster or a radiation leak.
